Kalki Koechlin is an Indian actress and writer of French descent. Drawn to the theatre at a young age, Koechlin studied drama at Goldsmiths, University of London, and worked simultaneously with a local theatre company. She is the recipient of a National Film Award, a Filmfare Award and two Screen Awards, among other accolades. She pursued theater in London before moving to Bombay to launch her profession as an on-screen actor.
In 2009, she learned Hindi in the space of six months to secure her first on-screen part in Dev D by Anurag Kashyap. Kalki Koechlin then went on to feature in the satire dramatizations Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. These were top-netting Bollywood productions, and both earned her Best Supporting Actress awards at the Filmfare Awards. Koechlin co-wrote the screenplay for the wrongdoing spine chiller That Girl in Yellow Boots, in which she also assumed the lead part.
Apart from acting in films, Koechlin is also a regular presence in theater productions in the country. An acclaimed actress in the Indian film industry for her unconventional body of work.
