Richa Chadha is an award-winning actor working with the Indian Film Industry. Chadha was born on 18 December 1986 in Amritsar, Punjab, India into a Hindu family to a Punjabi father and a Bihari mother. She was educated at Sardar Patel Vidyalaya and then at the St. Stephen’s College in New Delhi.
Before entering into Bollywood, Richa Chadha worked as an intern with a Men’s fashion magazine and Elle. She is the youngest jury member from India at the International Film Festivals.
After debuting in the critically-acclaimed comedy Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!, she has gone on to work in several notable films. Her supporting role in the gangster-saga Gangs of Wasseypur, where her role as the bellicose and extremely sharp-tongued Naghma earned her a Filmfare award.
In 2015, Richa Chadha made her debut in a leading role with the drama Masaan, which received a standing ovation at its screening at the Cannes film festival.
She was featured on the cover and in the 30 under 30 List of Forbes Magazine and was the youngest jury member from India at the Marrakech International Film Festival.
More to this, she is also a professionally trained Bharatnatyam dancer. She has a keen interest in working for the welfare of the animals; and runs an adoption community for pets as well as supports many NGOs. She is a strong advocate of freedom for Women.
